About Efficiency in Photovoltaics Nov. 22, 2015

Efficiency is a figure without unit, usually the figure shows in percentage(%).  Sunlight supplies us radiation intensity of 1000W/㎡, but the solar cell can not change it into electricity 100%. That's an important figure in photovoltaics industry--efficiency of conversion.

We test it in STC: 25℃, radiation intensity 1000W/㎡, and AM1.5.  The equation is:

Efficiency(%)=output power/input power

In other words, if the efficiency of solar cell is 18%, in STC, the solar module can convert 180W power per square meter.
